Rumor:HTC First is a Dead Bird!

HTC’s and Facebook’s Android experiment (if we may call it an experiment) is now a dead bird, the phone will supposedly be pulled off the shelves due to disappointing sales.

htc first

Just a few days ago AT&T dropped the price of the phone to $0.99 with a 2 year contract, but looks like even that did not convince people to buy the HTC First. Even though Facebook Home in itself is a nice product, AT&T sales representatives are not interested in selling the HTC First, why would they when people want to buy the Samsung Galaxy S4 or the HTC One. What’s interesting is that what about the people who bought the device? I personally would not want to keep a device which I bought a few months ago and is now discontinued, well if you are one of those we would suggest returning the phone if you can.

Why buy the phone when you can install the launcher or skin (or whatever you want to call it) on top of pretty much any android device. I was just reading an article on xda, where a dev made it possible to put Facebook Home on any Android device, phone or tablet. I’ll post an article about this all soon.

Not to mention you can put Facebook Home on a phone or tablet with much better hardware and software specs. Just my two cents.
