Nexus 4 Sleep of Death

App:Safe Charge Fixes Sleep of Death on Nexus 4

All devices have some problems and the Nexus 4 is no stranger. A lot of Nexus 4 users have been facing an issue wherein if the phone is left charging overnight it goes into a sleep of death, alarms are missed and maybe you are late to work because of that.

Nexus 4 Sleep of Death

If you have a Nexus 4 with this problem then firstly we recommend you to get a replacement device from Google, but if you are in a country wherein Google does not sell the Nexus 4 officially then xda member tkolev has created an app for you.

The app is called Safe Charge and is available for free (ad free as well) on the Google Play Store and does not require root.

How the app works:-

The app basically puts a wakelock on the phone that will allow for the backlight to go off, so the screen doesn’t age, but will prevent the CPU from sleeping while charging. Once external power is disconnected, the wakelock is released and so the app does NOT consume any battery (while in automatic mode).

You just need to install the app and “Enable Safe Charge”  (this will survive a reboot as well), so installation is required only once and you can forget about it.  Users over at xda have reported the app to be working as coded. Feel free to give the app a try and let us know if it works or not.
