NVIDIA Unveils Tegra K1, 32 and 64-bit CPU’s and 192 Kepler Graphic Cores
NVIDIA today unveiled Tegra K1, the fifth-generation of NVIDIA’s Tegra line of mobile processors at CES 2014. At its press conference NVIDIA says, it is the first mobile SoC to support next-generation graphics capabilities featuring 192 Kepler graphic cores.
The Tegra K1 will come in two versions: the first a 32-bit quad-core, 4-Plus-1™ ARM Cortex A15 CPU and other uses a custom NVIDIA-designed 64-bit dual Super Core CPU (codenamed as Denver) based on ARMv8 architecture. As per NVIDIA, this CPU is energy-efficient and delivers very high single and multi-thread performance.
Devices featuring the 32-bit version are expected in first half of 2014 and 64-bit devices following in the second half of the year.
Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO of NVIDIA showed a demo video EPIC’s Unreal Engine 4 running on a mobile platform for the first time ever. He says, “It’s a breakthrough that promises to bring the kinds of applications originally built for designers, gamers and supercomputers to a broad range of devices, erasing the lines between desktop and mobile devices.”
