LG says Yes to white Nexus 4 but No to Nexus 5. Or do they?

LG White Nexus 4 coming in weeks

LG announces white Nexus 4 over “the next several weeks”

We’ve all read and seen the rumors of the white Nexus 4, for us Nexus fans this could hold us over until the Nexus 5 that  LG will will have no part of.  Or will they?  More on this to come.  Anyhoo, the white Nexus 4 will have the same specs as it’s black counterpart.  4.7 inch 1280x 768 IPS display, quad core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 2 gigs of RAM.  LG says the white Nexus 4 will go on sale in Hong Kong May 29th, with “select markets”, Asia, North America, Europe and the Middle East in the “coming weeks”.  No information yet if it will be available on Google’s Play Store.

LG not working on new Nexus device.  True!  Could it happen?  Yes!

LG has made it clear that they don’t need the Nexus line to be successful.   They’ve said a few things recently that’s raised some brows –  they want to reduce their dependence on Android (phones running on Mozilla’s Firefox OS?), they’re  putting tablets on the back burner, they have no intention of releasing an unskinned Google edition LG flagship phone, adding it “has no added value for us without our own skins”, and now saying they are not working on a new Nexus device.  Well…..  The Verge reached out to LG regarding their statements on them not working on a new Nexus device.  This is what they pulled out of LG -

Update: We’ve just spoken with a senior LG official who informed us that Kim Won’s statements regarding the company’s interest in the Nexus program have been misinterpreted. While LG isn’t currently working on a “Nexus 5,” that doesn’t mean it would turn down the opportunity to work with Google again. Kim was instead referring to the company’s mobile business as a whole: he believes LG’s own offerings are strong enough that it doesn’t “need Nexus” to be successful.

What does all of this mean?  Who knows!  What we do know is we’ll have a white Nexus 4 in the coming weeks.
