Not sure why would Samsung do something like this, but it looks like the the European Note 3 (SM-N9005) has a Europe only lock, in simple terms it will work with SIM cards issued by European network operators only and not work with SIM cards issued by carriers outside Europe.
UK seller Clove has put up a page mentioning the same. This is utter foolishness on part of Samsung and there are already a lot of frustrated Note 3 fans out there. Not sure who came up with this idea, was it Samsung or EU carriers.
All in all a bad move which should affect the sales of Note 3 in Europe. Hope the peeps over at xda can come up with a solution soon.
