Install MIUI v5 on T-Mobile Galaxy S4

So you are a flashaholic and like to try different roms, well in case you own a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 you can now play with MIUI v5 on it. When I checked the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 development sections over at xda I couldn’t find any MIUI roms for it. I was just thinking why can’t I runs i9505 roms on my T-Mobile Galaxy S4 (M919) as both the i9505 and M919 have same hardware.

After some Googling I landed on this thread over at xda, but alas no mention of MIUI for i9505 running successfully on the T-Mobile Galaxy S4 without any extra kernel flashing required.

Well I decided to take the plunge, downloaded MIUI for i9505 from here, and flashed it from a custom recovery. Of course I followed the instructions mentioned in the thread and minutes later I was running MIUI v5 on my T-Mobile Galaxy S4. The Play Store did give me some issues first time around but force stopping Play Store, then clearing it’s data and rebooting the phone helped.

Trust me MIUI has come a long way software wise ever since I last tried it and MIUI v5 is a must try if you love custom roms. The only thing I have against MIUI as a custom ROM is that they are not open source even though are based of Android but it is what it is. Maybe Hugo Barra can change that. Let’s hope so.
