Full HD displays on smartphones is history now. LG’s Display division developed world’s first Quad HD LCS panel ( resolution of 2560×1440 ) for smartphones. This 5.5 inch new display is only 1.21 mm thick with pixel density of 538 pixels per inch.

LG Display claims that this new Quad HD panel for smartphones produces clearer images with 4 times more pixels than regular HD displays at 1280 X 720 reslution. With these 4X more pixels, this panel reproduces more delicate colors as well as improving contrast and vividness when compared to current mobile displays.

However there are no details on when we can expect a smartphone with this gorgeous Quad HD panel.  Do you think these panels will create a new landmark or just more pixels pointless on a ~5 inch displays sucking more battery ?
