Three days ago Samsung announced that they will be developing their own 64-bit chip for use in their mobile devices in the future. Now Taipei-based Digitimes is citing sources that Samsung will launch 64-bit processors in 2014. They are also claiming that the phones will have WQHD (2560×1440 resolution) and 16 megapixel cameras. Samsung Display is rumored to be starting production of the display very soon and it is meant for all high end devices in 2014. Apple has already gone to market with a 64-bit chip, and Samsung Galaxy S4 sales have been disappointing to date. All of this points to Samsung trying to make a big splash for MWC 2014. This should make for an interesting S5.

Rumored specs for the upcoming S5:
-64-bit processor
-4GB RAM
-Android 4.4 Kit Kat
-WQHD Display
-16 megapixel camera
-metal body

Now that Samsung is perfecting their hardware, maybe they could work on TouchWiz a little?

Day before yesterday we reported that the peeps over at myce had got their hands on a log file from Nexus 5. Well the same guys have gone through the log file in more detail and we now have detailed specs of the Nexus 5.

a 5″ screen (actually, 4.97″) with 1080p resolution 442ppi pixel density

Snapdragon 800 chipset with 2GB of RAM

16GB storage (let’s hope we have a 32gb version as well)

Android 4.4 Key Lime Pie (a.k.a. Android 4.4 KitKat)

8MP rear camera

1.2MP front-facing camera

dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac

Bluetooth 4.0

NFC

GPS

Wireless Charging

accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity and light sensors as well as a barometer

2,300 mAH battery (from FCC, not shown in the log file)

What’s interesting here is a 8mp camera, looks like Google wants to cut costs on the Nexus 5 as it’s supposedly based on LG G2 but the G2 has a 13mp camera. Only if Google can add OIS to the 8mp camera on the Nexus 5 I personally would be more than happy.

Priced at $139 the new Kindle Fire HD will sell like hot cakes during the holiday season.

How is it different from the 2012 model, well the 1GHz dual-core processor has been replaced with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. Everything else is still the same – a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1280×800, 1GB of RAM.
