Just like the Sprint HTC One, the Sprint HTC One Max can also be SIM unlocked for use on GSM networks. If you wish to use the One Max from Sprint on AT&T or T-Mobile, please note that it does not have compatible bands to get LTE on either of these networks.

LTE will not work on both AT&T and T-Mobile
HSPA+ will work on AT&T
Refarmed HSPA+ will work on T-Mobile

Here are few simple steps for unlocking the SIM. This method works only for HTC One Max from Sprint.

Disclaimer : Neither we nor the person who posted the method on XDA will be responsible for what you do on your device. Please read the instructions carefully before doing anything.

1) Unlock the boot-loader on your device through htcdev.com and flash any De odexed ROM like SkyDragon. If you are on Stock unrooted De-odexed ROM, Root your HTC One Max from Sprint using the steps listed in this post.

Finger print scanner does not work after unlocking boot-loader on HTC One Max. You can get it working by following the steps listed here.

2) Using any root explorer app and replace the HTCOMADM_SPCS.apk from /system/app on your device with this file.

3) Install SIM Unlock Helper from Google Play Store.

4) Open SIM Unlock Helper, Ignore “Device Check Fail” or “This Device is not a Sprint HTC One! Therefor, this Program will not run” warnings. Select “Display SIM Unlock Log” from Menu (by hitting 3-dots on upper right hand side), grant permissions when prompted. It shows “SIM Unlock Log”. Hit back button and now it says “Device Verified” and “Root Available” messages.

5) Tap start on SIM Unlock Helper to open OMADM Test Client, Scroll down through the menu and select the option “SIM LOCK”. Internally it sets the SIM Lock flag to unlock and it usually takes a couple of seconds. Your device will freeze during this time and returns to normal after the completion. Hit back button to view check SIM Unlock Result. If it says successful, reboot the device and it should be unlocked now and accept SIMs from GSM carriers.

6) Insert any SIM card (GSM) and set Network Mode (Settings ->Mobile Data) to GSM/UMTS only. Now your device should switch to GSM carrier. For mobile data services, You should create a new APN and set your GSM carrier specific values appropriately.

Whether you love or loath “one click” tools, they are helpful and useful for the experienced hacker and the ones dipping their toes in for the first time, which may be our future Super Devs one day.

XDA Senior Member Kwongger has created a one click tool that roots, unlocks, and puts a custom recovery on your HTC One Max (TWRP or CWM). The HTC One Max is a BIG phone, and I’m sure the AOSP ROM developers have some BIG plans for it now that a tool like this is available. A tool like this is great to have to get all of the nonsense out of the way while waiting for an AOSP-based ROM to come our way.

Be sure to read the Kwongger’s XDA thread as there are sometimes bumps in the easiest of methods. Remember to give developers a pat on the back with the thanks button, and buy them a beer or coffee if you have a few bucks sitting in your PayPal account. These guys bust their tails for us to have what we want when we buy these devices.

Though the two other members of the HTC One family, the HTC One and One Mini, are available in many colors, HTC’s 5.9 inch monster known as HTC One Max, was initially made available only in White color. However, now HTC has unveiled Stealth Black colored variant of HTC One Max in Taiwan.

HTC One Max adorned in black brings a more professional look to the device. Unlike White colored variant where it stands out, the finger print scanner on the back now looks more subtle, matching the overall look of the device.

Everything else remains the same other than the new Stealth Black color. A red colored variant of HTC One Max also popped up in a promotional advertisement recently but HTC has not unveiled it officially. Let’s hope HTC brings these two color variants in other markets soon.

The HTC One Max is available at Sprint stores today for $249 on contract, or 25 a month with the one up program and you can save $100 should you port your current number to Sprint. Rumrunner S-off released for HTC One Max

beaups, recognized developer at XDA has released a s-off method for HTC One Max. He earlier released  rumrunner,moonshine and facepalm s-off methods for various HTC devices like HTC One, Droid DNA. HTC One XL etc.

It looks the same exploit method “rumrunner’ he released for HTC One is also working for HTC One max with some device specific changes. HTC One and One Max share same internals ( SoC ).

Head to rumrunner website and download these files, for Linux, for Windows and carefully read the prerequisites and instructions to achieve s-off on your device. An user confirmed that the exploit worked successfully on his device with firmware version 1.20.207 and he achieved S-off with SuperCID ( CID – 11111111 )

 HTC One Max coming to Sprint for $249.99, also featuring Spark tri-band LTE technology

Though there is no official word on HTC One Max availability from Sprint or HTC, it looks HTC One Max is priced for $249.99 on a 2-year contract through Sprint. You can also get it for $25 per month with Sprint One up prgram.

HTC One Max is one of smartphone that supports Sprint’s Spark tri-band LTE technology – designed to achieve high speeds by combining three bands of 4G wireless spectrum available to Sprint. LG G2, Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy S4 Mini are other devices supporting this new technology from Sprint.

Though HTC One Max features 5.9 inch 1080p display, 3300mAh bettery and fingerprint scanner, it’s not much of a upgrade from HTC One. Ultrapixel camera on the rear lacks Optical Image Stabilization and there are no enough apps bundled by HTC to make use of big display.

Fingerprint scanner on HTC One Max not working after bootloader unlock?

Have you bought an HTC One Max, new phablet with 5.9 inch screen from HTC and getting ready to unlock the bootloader for rooting or flashing custom ROMs? If yes-  then don’t unlock it yet. Several HTC One Max users at XDA are complaining that finger print scanner is not working after unlocking the bootloader.

XDA member hectorz321 reported when tried to set a finger print to unlock the phone again, after wiping my finger for the final time it says “finger print not recorded, please try again”.  He also tried relocking the bootloader but it did not fixed the issue.  Another senior member clubtech also confirmed that unlocking the bootloader kills the finger print scanner functionality.

So guys, It’s better to wait until HTC comes up with some solution to resolve this issue.

 After numerous leaks HTC One Max is now official and global roll-out will start from mid to end October. As rumors suggested, One Max features a 5.9 inch display with fingerprint scanner on the back. It retains the design elements from HTC One and HTC One mini with Aluminium design, Dual front stereo speakers with BoomSound with an inclusion of fingerprint scanner on the back. We may need to wait for few more days to learn complete capabilities on fingerprint scanner.

The power button on the side unlike all previous HTC smartphones. On the flip side the 4MP UltraPixel camera on the back lacks Optimal Image Stabilization ( OIS ). Sense UI version is bumped from 5.0 to 5.5 and it comes with Android 4.3 JellyBean.

As already known the One Max will come with Android 4.3 and Sense 5.5, add to that the fingerprint scanner does a lot more than unlocking your One Max.
