Your favorite aftermarket custom Android ROM CyanogenMod (or CM as we call them) is now a company, Cyanogen Inc. What was once a one man custom rom on the G1 is now the most wanted rom on any new Android device released.

The idea of Cyanogen Inc was proposed to Steve Kondik (founder of CyanogenMod) by Kirt McMaster and Steve just could not pass on the idea, a few meetings later Cyanogen Inc was born on 12-13-2012 in Palo Alto. With an intial investment of $7 million from Benchmark Capital and Redpoint Ventures Series A of Cyanogen Inc was closed in April 2013. Cyanogen Inc offices were opened in Seattle and Palo Alto.

Below are the goals of Cyanogen Inc:-

  • * Organize, lead, and support our community
  • * Create amazing user experience centered around how YOU work
  • * Security solutions that really work
  • * Stay committed to building the features our users need
  • * No junk
  • * Constant updates
  • * Available on everything, to everyone

The first major step toward these goals is CyanogenMod Installer which makes installing CyanogenMod on a device as easy as the click of a button. CyanogenMod Installer will be available on the Play Store in the coming weeks. The next step is to make CyanogenMod phones and Cyanogen Inc is already in talks in with a hardware manufacturer but the name has not been divulged yet. Expect an announcement on that sometime next week.

What say peeps, ready to buy a CyanogenMod phone :D, trust me every since I first used CyanogenMod on Samsung Spice i5700 I have always wanted a CyanogenMod phone. Looks like some dreams do come true in the same lifetime and this is one of them.

We wish Cyanogen Inc all the best in it’s future endeavors.
