As we all know Nexus devices don’t have expandable storage via SD card slot for the time being (fingers crossed for future Nexus devices). Which makes cloud services an absolute blessing for us proud Nexus 5 owners (especially us 16G owners).

The BOX cloud storage app normally offers 10 gigs of storage for new users that download the app and register at their website. Luckily for us Nexus 5 owners that initial storage capacity has been bumped to 50G (and that’s a lot of storage for the average person). If you already have storage with BOX the additional 50G is added on top.

Pretty simple to get that 50 gigs of storage from BOX folks. Grab that Nexus 5 of yours, download the BOX app, login or register for an account and BAM!!! You’ve got 50G of free cloud storage from the friendly folks at BOX.

Ever want to send out a tweet from a website link that takes up almost all of your characters on twitter or send a link to a friend in hangouts being a big blue mess in the conversation. Want to add your own two cents to your tweet but the URL took too many characters? Have I got the answer for all of you tweeting maniacs.

The Goo.gl URL shrtner app in the Google Play store is the answer to your loooooooong problems. Goo.gl URL shortner takes that long blue link you want to share and maybe add your thought to, to just a few characters that brings the person to the same exact website without the sentences of blue nonsense and gives you more characters for your dopey thoughts (trolol)

For Example. Let’s take a look at Sean’s review of the Star Charting app he just wrote up.

Before the URL shortner – http://androidfannetwork.com/2013/11/10/star-chart-infinite-app-review/ This is a really great app guys but I’m out of characters on twitter to say more

With Goo.gl URL Shortner – http://goo.gl/fYia91. Blah blah blah I have so many characters to really tell you how I feel about this app.

Once Goo.gl URL Shortner is installed it automatically goes in to your share setting for websites, apps etc. Once you share the URL to Goo.gl URL Shortner you’re going to hit “generate URL”, it will give you a shortened URL, you will then hit the copy button and it will be copied to your clipboard. Then simply long press where you’d like to share that itty bitty URL and whoola. You haven’t pissed anyone off with a huge URL or you can add some thoughts because you still have characters to play with.

The next person I see with a huge URL on twitter I’m going to troll you with this article.

Peace and love.

Fill your gas tank in your car, put some running sneakers on, find a local Google+ Ingress community (in your faction of course… Unless you’re a spy), hit the pavement and try to take over the world with Ingress.

For almost a year now the Ingress app has been a beta invite only game (it still had over a million downloads at invite only). Well the folks at Niantic Project must feel it’s ready for the general public because there are no invites required to play this free and addictive interactive global control game. Now that no invite is required you can just hop on over to Google Play, download Ingress, pick your faction and start raising hell in your neck of the woods.

A lot of high level beta testers for Ingress were worried that their characters, levels and achievements would all be wiped to create a level playing field for all of the Ingress noobs that will be learning the ropes, but all the stats stayed. I personally think everything should have been wiped as it’s impossible for a level 1 to do any kind of damage to a level 8 agent. But…. That’s just me. So all of you level one players start grinding and hook up with some local higher level agents to help you out.

As you can see I'm a level 6

For those of you that have been waiting for an invite and gave up because they were hard to come by, hit the link below for the Google Play link for Ingress and start busting your ass for territory.

You don’t have to be a Kindle Fire owner to get the Amazon Free App of the day.

If you follow the Amazon free apps of the day like I do then you know that Amazon throws a lot of apps on the free list that should be free (no disrespect to the devs), but every once in a while Amazon puts a gem out there that sure is nice to get. I generally grab the free app of the day whether it’s a doozy or a gem and just keep them in the cloud for a rainy day.

When Amazon does put that gem out there you don’t want to miss it because it’s free! And who doesn’t like free?

Developer Skylark95 has created an app that notifies you daily for Amazon’s Free app of the day. He’s made the app pretty fool proof for people that may be to busy to check the free app of the day or just fools like myself.

The app pretty much does all the work for you, but I’ll give you a quick run down on how it works and how to get it up and running. It’s pretty simple. Ready?

Install Free App Notifier for Amazon, after it’s installed hit test notification which will bring you to the Amazon App Store apk (remember to check unknown sources), log in to Amazon through the Amazon App Store and profit. You will now get notified on a daily basis for the free app of the day for Amazon. There’s a bunch of settings for your daily notifications if you want to do a little tinkering. You can tell the app what time of day to notify you, notification sounds, notification icons and so on.

It’s a nifty little app that is nice to have if you like Free. So head on over to Google Play and show Skylark95 some love, give him a 5 star rating for creating such a wonderful app and enjoy your free apps.
