Blu Products Strikes Again with Vivo 4.8 HD

Much like the Rebels of Star Wars, Blu Products, an underdog company based in Miami Florida, is fighting back against the empire that is mainstream OEM’s and added the Vivo 4.8 HD to their arsenal.

The Vivo 4.8 HD comes equipped with a Super AMOLED 720 x 1280 panel at 4.8 inches housed in several colors of a 5.39 x 2.76 x 0.27 inch frame. This will come unlocked with a dual-SIM 2G GSM support on 850/900/1800/1900MHz and 3G UMTS/HSPA on either 850/1900MHz for the D940a or 850/2100MHz for the D940i.

The primary camera is an 8MP shooter with autofocus with LED flash capable of 1080p video recording at 30fps. The secondary camera is 5MP. This Vivo ships running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and uses a Mediatek MT6589T A7 quad-core CPU clocking in at 1.5GHz. Video is driven by a PowerVR SGX544 GPU and you’ll get 1 GB RAM with 16 GB internal storage but no expandable storage. This is all powered by a 2000mAh battery said to last through about 12 hours of talk time.

Pricing is set around the $249.99 mark, putting it in direct competition with Motorola’s Moto G. Although the Vivo 4.8 HD may not woo everyone with top of the line specs, we’ve seen how well relatively bloat free Android can run. Judging by notes from Blu Products and other various hands-on reviews, the Vivo 4.8 HD should be a must consider for anyone on a budget yet looking for a well-balanced smart phone that comes factory unlocked and dual-SIM capability.
