The one thing that wasn’t clear from the CES event today was whether or not the new ETF payoff program from T-Mobile would also apply to T-Mobile subscribers still locked into a legacy contract. John Legere mentioned during the press event that all Uncarrier programs apply to new and existing customers alike, but failed to clarify the position on their own customers. The official wording of the program specifically says that it applies to AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint customers who switch over, trade in a phone, and port a number.
I reached out directly to T-Mobile on Twitter and got a response from them. They clarified, saying that current customers are able to upgrade to a Simple Choice plan and have their service contract as well as any applicable migration fees completely waived when they trade in a qualifying phone. Glad to see T-Mobile didn’t overlook this important bit of information after all.
@cajunbob We value our customers and, in the spirit of un-carrier, are providing a path for them to take advantage of this offer.
