Rogers offering HTC One Mini for C$99.99 on a 2-year contract

HTC One Mini is now available through Rogers Canada. You can get it for C$99.99 on a 2 year contract or for $399.99 on a monthly plan.  One Mini is little brother of  HTC One with similar design and software features ( Blinkfeed, UltraPixel camera, Dual front speakers, Boom Sound etc ) but criticized for plastic band around the outer frame of the device.

Rogers Moto X is getting the OTA update to fix the camera issues. The update improves picture quality, increases touchless control, fixes choppy audio during calls and fixes an issue with Motorola Assist.

Hit that search for update button in case you have still not got the OTA on your Rogers Moto X.

Flashaholics we have some good news for you, you can now dual boot your Samsung Galaxy S4 (with triple boot coming soon). As of now it’s only possible for Qualcomm based Samsung Galaxy S4 which means it will work on the i9505, US & Canadian Samsung Galaxy S4. I just dual booted by T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 and right now am running MIUI as my primary and Task650′s AOKP as my secondary. User installed apps and data is not shared between the 2 roms.

Below are the roms, kernels and gapps supported as of now:-

ROMs:

• CyanogenMod and CyanogenMod-based ROMs
• Task650′s AOKP
• PAC-Man
• Google Edition (MaKTaiL)
• ParanoidAndroid (Vertigo, most likely other versions too)

Yesterday we had reported about Motoroot, a root exploit for AT&T and Verizon Moto X and the 2013 DROID lineup. Well guess what @jcase has added support for US Cellular, Sprint and Rogers Moto X as well.

The instructions to root are still the same:-

1. Grab the apk file for your carrier’s Moto X from here
2. Install the apk using adb adb install -r <filename>
3. Run MotoRoot app from app drawer
4. Press Setup
5. Wait for phone to reboot
6. Install SuperSU from Play Store

ClockworkMod recovery and root are now available for Rogers Moto X. Why not AT&T and Verizon Moto X, well because they have locked bootloaders. Yes an unlocked bootloader is a necessity to install clockworkmod recovery on Rogers Moto X and then root it.

Once bootloader unlocked you only have to do a fastboot flash recovery recovery-file.img to install recovery and then flash either Superuser by Koush or SuperSU by Chainfire from recovery and you will be rooted.

Good news for users rocking the newly launched Motorola Moto X and looking for a way to root it.  Pre-rooted Stock kernels for Moto X on AT&T and Rogers are now available for flashing. You need to get your bootloader unlocked to flash this kernel.

Bootloader of Rogers Moto X can be unlocked through Motorola portal but that option won’t work for AT&T ( AT&T won’t support unlocked bootloaders) and there is no other working exploit yet to unlock the bootloader of AT&T Moto X.

Anyway if you have an unlocked bootloader, Head over to this post on Moto X forums at XDA , download appropriate kernel image for your Moto X and flash it through bootloader.

We have some good news, the Moto X will have an unlockable bootloader except for AT&T and Verizon variants. This was made clear by Punit Soni , Motorola’s VP Product Management.

Moto X on the Sprint, US Cellular, Rogers and T-Mobile networks will have an unlockable bootloader, and in addition, we will be offering a Verizon Wireless Developer Edition and a general North American Developer Edition.

There will also be a developer version of the Moto X for Verizon and a general North American Developer Edition (which we assume will have AT&T LTE support). No word on the release of the developer versions though.

Leaks are coming in thick and fast for the Motorola Moto X, the latest being a demo video from Canadian carrier Rogers. A leaked Moto X video  confirms that the Moto X is coming this August and will be a Rogers exclusive in Canada. The video also demos a few niche features of the Moto X, one of them being getting information via Google Now without touching the phone. The other features demoed are no led notifications, instead the screen will display notifications, double twist wrist to open camera app and taking pictures by clicking anywhere on the screen and long press for a burst shot. Intrigued? So am I.

Of course you need to have an unlocked bootloaders, a custom recovery installed and then flash the zip files from recovery. These are nightly builds and may not be stable enough for daily use. We know AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 owners are cursing AT&T as of now for locking the bootloader, but patience is a virtue peeps. It shouldn’t be long that AT&T Galaxy S4 owners can taste CyanogenMod as well. Anyways, to download the nightlies head over to official CyanogenMod download page.
