Bloomberg released a report, stating in it that Samsung plans to release a smartphone with 3 screens. That’s right, a 3 sided screen. Benefit of this would be to view messages from an angle, be it text messages, news feeds and so on.

The phone is said to use an upgraded version of Samsung’s technology called Youm, currently in use on the curved Galaxy Round handset. The screen itself could be used in either the Galaxy line, Note series, or an entirely new line of devices from Samsung. Plans are for each side of the display to operate independently from each other.

There is no set release date from Samsung, but some speculate that it could be released by the second half of next year. The Youm technology was showcased at the CES event in Las Vegas back in January, and seems to be readying for the general public.

Could this be ushering in a new era of smartphone design? Or is this just a gimmick that will just blow over like the HTC Facebook phone… only time will tell.

Love the Google Experience Launcher but need a removable battery, SD card access, or a S Pen? Or are you waiting on your Nexus 5 to ship? Either way, let’s side load the GE Launcher onto your current device. Thanks to Android Police providing the APK files, it is very easy and you can’t mess anything up being you are just installing two APK files. I used my unrooted, stock AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for this test.

Easy step by step instructions:
(Disclaimer: As always, you are responsible for anything you do to your device, not Android Fan Network or myself)
1.)Go here and here to download the two APK files.
2.)Install the Google Search APK
3.)Install the Launcher APK
4.)Enjoy!

So far it is fully functional for me, the only exception is I can not launch voice search from the home screen with “OK Google” command. But I can use Google voice search by simply pressing the embedded icon on the wallpaper. I can also swipe from the left to access Google Now, which I prefer anyways. All settings, wallpapers, and widgets that I have tested so far are working also.
Chime in below if this could replace TouchWiz, Nova, or your favorite launcher. I am excited being the biggest annoyance of TouchWiz to me was the fact that Google Now was masked by S-Voice(which I cannot stand), and this launcher eliminates that.

Three days ago Samsung announced that they will be developing their own 64-bit chip for use in their mobile devices in the future. Now Taipei-based Digitimes is citing sources that Samsung will launch 64-bit processors in 2014. They are also claiming that the phones will have WQHD (2560×1440 resolution) and 16 megapixel cameras. Samsung Display is rumored to be starting production of the display very soon and it is meant for all high end devices in 2014. Apple has already gone to market with a 64-bit chip, and Samsung Galaxy S4 sales have been disappointing to date. All of this points to Samsung trying to make a big splash for MWC 2014. This should make for an interesting S5.

Rumored specs for the upcoming S5:
-64-bit processor
-4GB RAM
-Android 4.4 Kit Kat
-WQHD Display
-16 megapixel camera
-metal body

Now that Samsung is perfecting their hardware, maybe they could work on TouchWiz a little?

A few days ago we reported that the region lock on European Note 3 is infact real, but it didn’t take @Chainfirexda long to break the lock. He has released an app RegionLock Away on the Play Store which removes the region lock on Galaxy Note 3. You can also download the apk from here for free, if you download the free version feel free to buy Chainfirexda a beer. Click here to donate to him.

Of course you need to be rooted to run the app. In case you haven’t rooted your Note 3 here is how to do it. The app has only been tested on the European Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 (MI7 firmware). Beware of applying any updates as Samsung may lock your Note 3 again.

Kudos to Chainfirexda for the app and, Chainfirexda 1 – Samsung 0

Why am I still awake after 4:00 AM on a Tuesday? I have no idea. But, my insomnia allowed me to catch the update notification on my AT&T Galaxy Express. This update will put your phone out of commission for about 5 minutes while it downloads and installs. It isn’t the significant upgrade to 4.2 that many users are hoping for, but I am of the opinion that any update is better than no update at all. Unfortunately, I don’t have the change log for this update, but I will update this article if I notice anything significant.

To update your Express:

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Scroll down to About Device.
3. After you tap About Device, hit the Software update option.
4. From there you have two options. Check for updates or Continue update. Select whichever isn’t greyed out.

Enjoy Android 4.1.2!
