Review: Cut the Rope Holiday Gift

cut_the_rope_menuZeptoLab’s Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift made its way to Google Play right in time for this year’s Christmas season. Just like the initial iOS only version that launched and disappeared last year, this is a time limited release so grab it before the holidays are over.

Om Nom is back for 25 levels of holiday-themed fun. The levels are not the most challenging in the Cut the Rope series, but they were fun and a good time waster. You get a yuletide hodgepodge of elements from the other Cut the Rope games, such as Christmas tree lights for the rope and stockings instead of the magician’s hat. While Om Non is waiting for you to collect all the stars, he may don a Santa cap or reindeer antlers.

Aside from the game, Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift includes a greeting card maker you can use to snap a pic and decorate it with Cut the Rope stickers featuring Christmas and game elements. If you are a fan of ZeptoLab’s YouTube channel, the cartoon section of the app features a listing of all videos available and show them in an in-app video player.

Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift is an ad-supported free download with a small, unobtrusive ad shown at the bottom of the level complete screen. Every few levels you get treated to full screen ad or video ads that cannot be skipped over. The small ad was fine but having full screen ads in a “Holiday Gift” gives you the same let down feeling as unwrapping a present that doesn’t include batteries.

Overall this a cute game (level pack?) that fans of the series will like. You can grab Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift  as a free download at Google Play.
