Who the hell cares?

The other day Munchy told me in private I was an angry guy. He may be right and maybe that’s why I’m so puzzled, confused and could care less about the Samsung Round and Samsung’s flip phone. The Samsung Round has the specs of the Note 3 and looks like the Note 3 after you’ve eaten a few of them funny mushrooms.

Here comes my rant over these two dopey phones. Get ready because they both make me angry and I’m not entirely sure why.

Let’s start with the Samsung Round. First of all, I understand the direction curved phones are heading in this industry and I’m excited to see it going there. But to curve a phone just to say you’ve got the first curved phone?  It makes no sense!  The Galaxy Nexus had a curve that was kind of useless, but at least it went from top to bottom and fitted against you face better when making phone calls. What the hell is this curved side to side business?  Does it help with viewing angles? Not that I’m aware of. Are case manufacturers going to be thrilled about a curved phone? Nope. Maybe it will feel better in your pants pocket, which is a really dopey reason to curve a phone side to side. And really?  When the phone is on a flat surface and you tilt the phone you see your notifications?  Take a page from Motorola’s playbook with the Moto X. Now don’t get me wrong.  I love innovation and pushing the envelope, but I see neither in the Samsung Round. Let’s hope I’m wrong. You wanna grab my attention?  Make that sucker fold in half, otherwise I’ll just stick with the Note 3.

The next phone that’s making me a little mental is this Samsung flip phone.  I can kind of see an audience for this type of phone, but not a big enough audience to make it worth Samsung’s time or a carriers time to manufacture and put on shelves. I’m going to give ya a peak at the supposed specs for this phone. Ready?

Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Quad Core Processor
Dual super AMOLED displays ( 3.67-inch and 800 x 480 resolution )
2 GB RAM
13 MP rear and 2 MP front camera
802.11ac WiFi
Android 4.3 JellyBean

Lol…  REALLY?!?!?  Now this phone doesn’t make me as crazy as the Samsung Round but still has me scratching my head. I’d rather have a Blackberry Z10 or Z30 and I’m not a fan of Blackberry at all.

Let’s hope I’m proven completely wrong here and these 2 dopey phones create some innovation and builds competition. I just don’t see the point for either of these phones. Do you?

Maybe I am a little angry Munchy ;).
