Google Maps update for Android rolling out

Google previewed the new Maps for Android at its I/O event in May and that update started rolling out through Play Store depending on Android OS version and your location.

The update brings a new fresh design inspired from Google Now card interface and also brings some new features like live traffic updates,dynamic rerouting and incident reports. A new version of app specially designed for tablets making use of bugger screens is also rolling out.

 



 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Below is the change log posted in Play Store.

*This update will be gradually rolling out to Android 4.0.3+ users over the next few weeks. Users with Android versions below 4.0.3 should visit http://goo.gl/5AMJS to find out more about the Google Maps app available to you.

– Enhanced navigation including live traffic updates, incident reports and dynamic rerouting
– Explore: A new way to browse and discover popular local places to eat, drink, shop, play and sleep

There seems to different variant of app available based on Android OS version on your device. If you did not receive update to your device yet or if the update is not available in your country, You may download APK of latest update from Android Police and install on your device.
