Sony Mobile has launched Xperia Z1F for Japanese market available through NTT Docomo. It is a shortened version of Sony’s current flagship Android smartphone Xperia Z1 featuring 4.3 inch 720p screen. However design elements and major specs like processor ( Snapdragon 800 ) and camera ( 20.1 MP camera with G Lens ), waterproof body remain the same.

It is nice to see Sony retaining the specs in a smaller body which is not the case with other OEMs like Samsung ( S4 mini ) and HTC ( One Mini ). As of now Sony Xperia Z1F is available only in Japan in Pink,White,Black and Yellow colored variants and there is no word on global availability yet.

Today morning, Sony Mobile through its twitter account confirmed the list of devices that will be getting Android 4.2 JellyBean. The list includes previous flagship smartphone Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia XR and Xperia Tab Z.

As per Sony Mobile. this update will be rolled out in phased probably based on region and carrier and brings display, camera, battery fixes & multiple performance tweaks. There is no word on exact time frame yet and though there is no full changelog s you can expect below features/enhancements.

Lock screen widgets
Extended quick settings
Android Daydream feature
My Xperia application
New customisable navigation bar with quick settings
Increased battery life and camera functionality

CyanogenMod 10.1 booted on the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. As of now no builds have been released but expect them soon. As per the developers everything is working fine except the below:-

- Bluetooth
- Sensors
- Camera

Shouldn’t be long before we have official CyanogenMod builds for the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, but as with all custom development please do not ask for any ETA’s.

Sony Mobile posted a picture on twitter showing the rear camera sporting G Lens of yet to be announced Sony Xperia Z1 codenamed Honami. Xperia Z1 is supposed to feature a 20MP rear camera with G Lens based on Carl Zeiss Optics. You may read more about G lens here at Sony website.

Apart from 20 MP camera this new flagship Android smartphone from Sony Mobile also sports impressive specs like

Another picture ( a press render) of Sony Xperia Z1 has been floating all over internet. It shows Z1 comes in three colors – Black, White and Purple, much like the current flagship Xperia Z. Unlike Xperia Z, Z1 looks to be featuring a metallic frame around the handset and a bit thinner.

We may know more details of Sony Xperia Z1 like global availability and pricing at IFA event in Berlin,Germany where it is supposed to be launched.

Sony Mobile is announcing a new phablet Sony Xperia ZU or Z Ultra at Sony launch event in France on 4th July.  This seems to be same device that was leaked several times with code name ‘Togari’.

Xperia ZU is also set to be launched in some other markets like Germary and Japan on June 25th.  According to Rumors though  ZU won’t come with a stylus, it will be receptive to third-party styluses.

Major Specs of this phablet includes

6.44-inch, 1,920 x 1,080 IPS LCD display ( 342ppi )

2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800with 2GB RAM

They have released a version of ClockworkMod recovery for the Xperia ZL with locked bootloaders, what does this mean? Well, it means that if you have a Xperia ZL with a locked bootloader you can still go ahead and install ClockwordMod recovery on it.
