Sony launches Xperia Z1F for Japan

Sony Mobile has launched Xperia Z1F for Japanese market available through NTT Docomo. It is a shortened version of Sony’s current flagship Android smartphone Xperia Z1 featuring 4.3 inch 720p screen. However design elements and major specs like processor ( Snapdragon 800 ) and camera ( 20.1 MP camera with G Lens ), waterproof body remain the same.

It is nice to see Sony retaining the specs in a smaller body which is not the case with other OEMs like Samsung ( S4 mini ) and HTC ( One Mini ). As of now Sony Xperia Z1F is available only in Japan in Pink,White,Black and Yellow colored variants and there is no word on global availability yet.

Today Sony Mobile launched Sony Xperia Ultra in India. Sony is advertising that it sports The world’s largest ( 6.4 inch screen ) and slimmest ( 6.5 mm thick )FULL HD smartphone display & it is the only waterproof (IPX5/8) smartphone with a Full HD display on global distribution. Sony Xperia Z Ultra comes with a new ‘TRILUMINOS’ display technology that has many advantages over standard LCD display ( see below picture ).

Xperia Z is available on T-Mobile USA from 17 July

In a news release yesterday, T-Mobile USA announced the details on launch date & pricing of Sony Xperia Z ( C6606 ). It will be available for pre-order on T-Mobile USA’s website starting this July 17th for $99.99 upfront and $20 per month for 24 months. There is no difference between the Xperia Z internal version other than support for T-Mobile bands and branding on the back of the device.

T-Mobile bands compatible Sony Xperia Z (C6606) unlocked version is also available available from Sony US Website for $579.99. You can also buy them at Sony Mobile Store locations. You can get a free Sony Bluetooth Wireless Speaker if you buy through Sony (both stores & online).

Sony Xperia Z will be available in Black and Purple color variants. Hit the below links to buy devices on t-mobile site. At this point of time you can see – ‘coming soon’ and pricing not available but you can enter your email id to get yourself notified when they become available.

Sony Mobile new UI revealed from Sony Honami system dump

Few days back we saw leaked images of a new Android based smartphone from Sony Mobile – code named Honami sporting 20 MP camera.

Today system dump of Sony Honami leaked revealing details about new UI and hardware of the device.

build.prop from system dump revealed some key specs processor – Snapdragon 800 , 20MP camera with resolution of 5248 x 3936, 4K videos in 4000 x 2000 resolution with aspect ratio of 2:1.

There seems to be several changes to UI as well. Some apps like launcher, app tray, clock, calculator, calendar, contacts, dialer and keyboard are changed. Multiple small apps can be placed on screen ( multi tasking in samsung phones )

Some other new features include Music Unlimited integration in Walkman, A new Augmented Reality app, with some screenshots mode and a new visual search app based on kooaba – Info-eye.
