Update coming soon will allow Galaxy S4 owners to move apps to the SD card.

I think we all know the single biggest complaint for the Galaxy S4 is the amount of internal storage we get out of the box. Your 16 gig Galaxy S4 is advertised as having 16 gigs of internal storage, but we all know you really got a 9 gig Galaxy S4 with the other 7 gigs being hogged up by all the bells and whistles that Samsung threw in there. The bells and whistles are fine, but throw a couple Gameloft games on your shiny new toy and you’ll be running on E for storage.

Well, Samsung has begun rolling out an update to address this issue as we speak. The update will allow you to move those big apps, or even the small ones to your SD card. There are mods out there for rooted users that allows you to swap your internal and external storage with a few tweak’s. I’ve found too many bugs with this option on my Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Note 8, so this update is welcomed with open arms by me, many of you and even developers.

According to SamMobile, the update also brings some bug fixes, a semi transparent notification bar and an easy on and off toggle for Smart Pause. In my opinion, apps to SD is the king pin of this update.

The update is rolling out to German Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S4′s today, and will be coming to Exynos versions in the near future. US versions will likely have to wait for the update to be approved by the carriers, which could take god knows how long (I’m looking at you Verizon), but at least we know it’s coming.

Now Samsung! Let’s start looking at your other Note gadgets for the same type of update. I have a Galaxy Note 8.0 sitting in front of me with less than a gig of internal storage left after installing some of my favorite apps and some apps I forget why I even downloaded in the first place, but it would be nice to have an option in my application settings to move some, if not all to that beefy 64 gig class 10 SD card I have in it.

What do you all think? Are you OK with having 9 gigs of storage for your apps? Or, are you as excited as me to be able to move those hefty apps to your SD?

Let us know in the comments!

As I said before, I am a lucky Samsung GS4 owner. I was fortunate to snag one of these beasts from a pre-order. I have not stopped giving this phone props. One thing that a lot of reviewers are posting about this phone is the fact that this phone comes in a plastic case design. Well, the first thing that most users do is put a case on phone anyway with a screen protector. I did, I armored my phone with another case on top of original case and now I have two cases protecting this phone. I have noticed a few other phones out there that started with a sleek metal design only to get covered with plastic. Need I say more…

The Good: It has the world’s first Full HD Super AMOLED display that showcases images, photos, video and my favorite website androidfannetwork.com at their very best on a 5-inch screen, with an extremely fast 1.9GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon processor. I have used this phone on a daily basis. This phone is quick to handle any task that I encounter. I set up my Google +, Google Drive, Gmail and this phone has not let me down. I use this phone to keep up with social media and it never misses a beat. In one word “Awesome” and it’s only the beginning.

The Bad: The hand gesture feature does not work as I expected but it does work. There are slight delays with motion sensor and it does not respond every time but I can live with that. When I open an e-mail the eye scroll works but is slow to react. I can scroll up and down by tilting phone simulating the eyes moving up and down as I read my e-mails. The Camera modes are great, however some of the cooler additions to camera modes like (Drama Shot, Sports Shot) you are not able to zoom in as your subject needs to be closer. However, when you are close enough, it takes a really cool photo as shown on Samsung’s site. I just quickly switch to another mode that I can zoom in on.

The (not so) Ugly: The $249 price tag, it’s the price you have to pay for greatness. The software that is loaded from factory takes up half the storage of the GS4’s internal memory. However, I have had this phone for about a month and put a few necessary apps, a few apps that I use to make things easier and a few just to see what this phone can do and I still have enough to load more. I just keep all my photos on an external SD 32 GB card and I am good to go.

In summary, the awesomeness of this phone has not ceased to amaze me yet. If I don’t have my Mac Book Air with me or am not sitting down at my iMac… this phone does the trick. I can use my apps downloaded from Google Play and I am off to the daily grind. The simple fact that you can get to the Battery and swap it out with a fully charged one is a key feature as well as getting to the SD Card without removing the battery. I still say after a month of hard core use it is still the phone to beat out there. This is why Samsung’s Galaxy S4 is the fastest-selling Android phone ever for a reason.

Stay posted for more Weekly reviews from an advocate of the Samsung Galaxy S4, the next best thing, as I explore more of the many features this phone has to offer and other Reviews posted by other Android Fan Network Editors on the Android Fan Network.

I am very fortunate to be one of the few to get their hands on this Samsung Galaxy S4 from a pre-order. Right out of the wood grained box, the Samsung Galaxy S4, AKA GS4, caught my eye. The Black Mist version of this phone looks very sleek and is ultra-light. I almost forget I am carrying the phone at times. I am amazed by the screen display and how crystal-clear the icons and images are with its 5inch Full HD Super AMOLED (1920 x 1080) display. It’s a 5-inch beast. I then began to explore the many new features the GS4 has to offer. I started with the camera and the multiple modes. The camera features Dual Shot, Drama Shot, Sound & Shot, 360 Photo, Animated Photo, Eraser, Night, Best Photo, Best Face, Beauty Face, HDR (High Dynamic Range), Panorama, Sports. I took photos with the Drama Shot, Sound shout and the Animation shot very impressive. I like the vivid photos that this phone captures. If you like taking pictures, you can leave your old camera behind. This 13 Mega pixel Auto Focus camera does the trick. Not only does this GS4 take amazing photos but video as well. This is a great feature if you like to shoot and share or just upload to your favorite social networking forums.

Going from an a top on the line Android phone (HTC EVO) back in the day before the Samsung S Series phone to the Samsung GS4 was a big leap for me. This was an upgrade to a 1.9 GHz Quad-Core Processor, which is very fast, to the size of the screen. Samsung manages to make use of the entire 5” display which I think is smart thinking. The web pages load up very fast, clear and full of detail and all the images took no time at all to view. The battery on this phone keeps up with each and every task. I can go all day on a full charge. I can keep up with e-mails, social networking, and entertainment apps. I also like the texting interface it is very cool. When it comes to PC vs. MAC, I am a MAC person. When it comes to phones, I am all about the Android and its powerful open source OS that continually gets improved. The GS4 made it extremely easy to stick by the Android over the iPhone. I am overwhelmed with the differences that this GS4 has over the iPhone. I even had an iPhone user comment on the GS4 and how nice it is over the iPhone. I have yet to scratch the surface with all the tweaking that you can do with the GS4. I am very much looking forward to exploring more and more and taking the GS4 to the limit.

In summary, if you decide to get the GS4 over an iPhone you will not be disappointed. This GS4 is truly the next best thing. When I am on the go, this is the phone that I want by my side. The only thing I would recommend would be a SD card to keep your photos, video, and apps on as the GS4 only leaves you with 8GB of free space on the 16GB model. And you don’t even have to remove the battery to get to the micro SD slot which is upgradable (up to 64GB. I am not going to go on and on about the phones features as that is readily available online. The appeal of Android to many, though, is the ability to customize nearly everything the phone can do. If that’s you, you’ll find the GS4 fun to operate and it’ll cater well to your tinkering tendencies. The first hour that I had the GS4, I did just that, loading it with my favorite apps. I barely scratched the surface of what this beast of a phone can do. I would just like to say that the GS4 would make anyone an Android phone user. I am proud to be one of the few, soon to be many, Samsung Galaxy S4 owners.
