With Android 4.3 update rolling out  as an OTA for the Play Store Edition of Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One, both Samsung and HTC released Android 4.3 kernel sources.

HTC has posted Android 4.3 kernel sources along with needed framework files for the Google Edition HTC One. What does this mean? Well it means that Android 4.3 for the Google Edition HTC One should be coming in soon now.

The verge is reporting that a Google Play version of Moto X is in the works and will be coming soon. No word on the pricing or availability as of now. The carrier branded versions of Moto X do have carrier bloatware. We also do not know if the bootloader on the Google Play version would be unlocked or not, the only thing we know is that it would be sim unlocked.

Considering the pricing on HTC One and Galaxy S4 Google Play editions expect a price between $599 – $649 and trust me I ain’t buying it, are you?

The bootloader and recovery from Google Edition HTC One were dumped a few days ago, well now we have the steps to convert HTC One to Google edition, all credits and thanks go to xda member uncon.

Warning

Your device will be wiped including any backups, so either upload your backups online or copy them to your computer.

Pre-requistes

1. You must be S-OFF
2. CID should be either SuperCID or GOOGL001
3. You are responsible for whatever happens

How To

1. Download this file. This is the Google Edition RUU with sbl images included (RUU-HTC_One_GE-2.14.1700.15.zip, md5 01e98e27bca4ffb4bbbbeaea6d2ddecc) (mirror – mega)
2. Open an adb terminal and issue adb reboot bootloader
3. Issue fastboot oem rebootRUU
4. Issue fastboot flash zip RUU-HTC_One_GE-2.14.1700.15.zip
5. Issue fastboot flash zip RUU-HTC_One_GE-2.14.1700.15.zip (yes same command 2 times)
6. Issue fastboot reboot , your device should now reboot and you should be converted to Google Edition HTC One.

Check your email folks if you ordered a GE phone

For those of you that have ordered  GE Galaxy S4 or HTC One, check your email!  Your tracking should be in there (may have to look around if your email looks anything like mine).

And for those of you that have been lost in the woods for the past few months.  The Google Edition Galaxy S4 and HTC One are almost 100% stock Android that are being sold at the Play Store. Just one example of the HTC One not being entirely 100% stock Android is the ability to toggle Beats Audio. I enjoy Beats, so I’m not sure that’s necessarily a bad thing.

Anyhoo….  Check that email and keep your fingers crossed you don’t get that second email like we did with the White Nexus 4.

If you haven’t grabbed one and have a few bucks in the bank…  Head on over to the Play Store and snatch one of these beauties up.

The leaks are coming in thick and fast now, Android 4.3 is already being tested on Google Edition Galaxy S4. Sammobile was able to procure some screenshots of the test build JWR66N. It looks like that Google is already ready with Android 4.3 considering that Samsung is already testing it out on the Google Edition Galaxy S4. Let’s hope the release is soon enough considering Android 4.3 is something Google should have released at the Google I/O.

Come on Google why you make us wait so long.

Sammobile has some inside news for us; Android 4.3 is coming to Galaxy S4 Google Edition in July and is currently in testing phase. The build number for the current version of Android 4.3 being tested on Galaxy S4 Google Edition is JWR66N.

If this is true then we can be pretty sure that Android 4.3 is just on the horizon and Nexus users will be first one’s to taste some more Jelly Bean. If Samsung can continue with updating the Google Edition Galaxy S4 in a timely manner a lot of peeps including me would prefer the Google Edition Galaxy S4 over the international or carrier branded versions.

It hasn’t been even 24 hours since the Google Edition HTC One started selling on the Play Store and we already have a rom port of the Google Edition HTC One. After the system dump was pulled from the review unit of AndroidCentral the peeps over at xda started working on it and you now have a fully working rom port for your HTC One.

Just to let you know all  HTC One’s are internally the same so we see no reason why this port won’t work on the AT&T and T-Mobile HTC One. Please make sure to have a nandroid in case things go south.
