Third! Haven't even rooted the Mega. Stock performance has come a long, long way. In fact, where root used to give an occasional performance boost, I now find it detrimental on some phones. Being able to disable and hide most of the junk certainly goes a long way to helping!

Hey Dave. I'm not laughing. I haven't been rooting or unlocking bootloaders either. I only did this to get tether and remove carrier bloat. I usually have imported international phones. =)

You guys may laugh at me, but I haven't rooted or unlocked the boot loader on my new Nexus 7. I know half of the reason to get a nexus device is to do those 2 things, but its fine the way it is IMO. I may down the road, even though its wiser to do it as soon as you get it. I will flash cm on my Note 2 though. Don't really use the s pen.

I absolutely agree. As a matter of fact if I can achieve tether without even rooting I am a happy camper. That's why I love my Rogers e971...tethering right out of the box!

These days flashing Roms is for fun and less out of necessity. Back in the froyo and GB days stock OEM Roms were clunky and needed some tweaking (especially older sense). Now these phones coming out are beasts out of the box. I go stock rooted on most of my devices now.
