Thanks. Had the nexus 7 for a while but sold it. I have loved this one. 8 inches hits the sweet spot and it’s okay for games. I will root it and if I have any more questions, you will hear from me.

Yes, that is correct, it’s only device firmware updates and not app updates. Rooting will allow you to remove bloatware. Not sure on moving apps to external sd part as devices now have large enough internal memory so haven’t used that in a while . Also, welcome to the world of Droid Alex, I am pretty sure you’ll like it.

So it’s just device updates, not App updates? I have just converted to Android and am new to the whole rooting thing. I want to root the 8 for multiwindow stuff. Does it also let you remove bloatware apps or install apps directly to the external SD card? Thanks for the answers BTW.
